Jan,1917 - Takeuchi Mining Industry (founded in 1894) established Komatsu Iron Works to manufacture machine tools and mining equipment for in-house use.
May,1921 - Komatsu Iron Works separated from Takeuchi Mining Co. to become Komatsu Ltd.
Oct,1931 - Produced Japan's first crawler-type farm tractor.
May,1938 - Established the Awazu plant.
Dec,1947 - Introduced the D50 bulldozer.
Feb,1948 - Began diesel engine production.
Oct,1952 - Opened the Osaka Plant.
Oct,1952 - Began production of motor graders.
Jan,1953 - Commenced production of forklift trucks.
Nov,1953 - Started production of dump trucks and special purpose vehicles.
1965 - Began production of wheel loaders.
Oct,1968 - Began production of hydraulic excavators.
Dec,1985 - Established Komatsu UK Ltd. in the United Kingdom.
Aug,1986 - Established Komatsu Industries Europe GmbH. in Germany.
Jul,1989 - KOMATSU made an equity participation in Hanomag AG of Germany.
Nov,1991 - KOMATSU Made an equity participation in Fai S.p.A. in Italy.
Aug,1992 - Komatsu UK Komatsu UK launched wheeled excavators into the European market.
Jun,1995 - Komatsu Dresser Company developed the world's largest dump truck, model 930E.
Jan,1996 - Established Demag Komatsu GmbH (renamed Komatsu Mining Germany GmbH in February 1999) in Germany.
Sep,1999 - Launched the world's largest mechanical-drive WA1200 wheel loader.
Feb,2000 - Agreed to establish global collaboration with the Linde Group of Germany in the manufacture and sales of lift trucks.
May,2001 - Launched Komatsu-developed HM400 large articulated dump truck.
2002 - Introduced the new series of Dash-7 excavators
2003 - Expanded the range of wheeled excavators with the introduction of the models PW200-7 and PW220-7
2004 - Developed and manufactured unique road/rail machines
2005 - Introduced PW160-7 and PW180-7 wheeled excavators
2005 - Introduced the new series of Dash-8 excavators
2005 - Komatsu decided to transfer the development and production of the wheeled excavators to Hanover.
Oct,2005 - Developed the frontier engine technology "ecot3" compliant to Tier III emission standards.
2006 - Introduced the new series of Dash-8 excavators.
Jan,2007 - Completed the construction of three new plants, i.e. Ibaraki Plant, Kanazawa Plant (both in Japan) and Chennai Plant (in India).
Jun,2008 - Komatsu introduces the world's first hybrid hydraulic excavator.
April,2009 - Komatsu presents the new PW148-8 wheeled excavator at Intermat 2009
April,2009 - Reorganized Japanese sales and service structure for construction equipment and established Komatsu Construction Equipment Sales and Service Japan Ltd.
