Potain History
| 1928 |
- In 1928 starts activity the one that is going to grow to be one of the biggest producers of crane equipment. |
| 1930 - 1935 |
- The production of Potain cranes got started. |
| 1950 |
- Potain first announces a new crane on the market: “Record5” with horizontal jib that was replaced fast by “Record6”. Since 1950 Potain was known worldwide. |
| 1958 |
- Potain starts to export cranes, first to Great Britain, Germany and Holland. |
1961
|
- A new device based on a new technology for crane industry “Record Control” in now on the market and makes Potain cranes easier and more precise to operate. |
| 1971 |
- Potain wins “Export Oscar”. |
| 1985 |
- Potain has a new acquisition, his famous competitor, producer of tower cranes, Richier. |
| 1991 - 1992 |
- Potain has launched HDT range. |
1997

- Potain launches HDT 70, the first Self erecting crane and MD 345 crane with 2 x 2 jib. |
1998
|
- Potain launches Topless crane range. |
| 2000 |
- Potain launches a new generation of tower cranes with disassembling panels. |
2001
|
- Manitowoc strengthens global presence: Manitowoc Cranes acquires France-based Potain S.A. and added four new lattice boom cranes. |
| 2005 |
- Potain produces the crane No. 100.000! |
| 2009 |
- Potain introduces CraneStar, a new and exclusive monitoring system, that monitors working conditions and locations of customer’s crane fleet. It helps planning maintenance and lifting schedules to get maximum efficiency from their operations. Also this year Manitowoc CraneStar asset management system wins gold medal at M2M Magazine’s Value Chain Awards. |
| 2010 |
– Potain introduces 4 new crane models: MDT218, Igo T70, Igo T80 and Igo T130 (the biggest self erecting crane in the world). |
